AXLE WEIGHING WITHOUT A FULL-LENGTH WEIGHBRIDGE

Truck weighing where space, portability or axle loading matters.

Axle weighers measure a vehicle progressively rather than requiring the entire truck to sit on one long deck. That makes them well suited to fleet checks, quarries, civil sites, forestry, agriculture, transport yards and locations where a conventional weighbridge is difficult to justify.

Check individual axle loads

See how the load is distributed instead of relying only on a gross vehicle weight.

02

Total the vehicle weight

Record successive axle weights and total them into a complete vehicle result.

Compact fixed weighing installation with a reduced civil footprint
03

Reduce civil footprint

Choose portable pads or a compact in-ground platform when a full weighbridge is unnecessary.

Connect the data

Send weight records into driver workflows, printers, local files, dashboards or cloud reporting.

AXLE WEIGHER OPTIONS

Choose the system around the way your trucks move.

We do not force one axle scale into every job. The right configuration depends on vehicle size, axle loads, traffic volume, speed, accuracy requirements, portability and the site surface.

PORTABLE

Portable Axle Weighers

Low-profile wheel or axle weighing pads for temporary sites, fleet checks and applications where the weighing point needs to move.

  • Fast deployment
  • Individual axle and vehicle totals
  • Wired or wireless options
  • Minimal permanent civil work

DYNAMIC

Weigh-In-Motion Axle Systems

Keep trucks moving at controlled low speed while the system captures successive axle weights and builds the vehicle result.

  • Faster throughput
  • No stop-start axle sequence
  • Automatic axle capture
  • Software and data integration

HOW AXLE WEIGHING WORKS

One axle at a time. One complete vehicle record.

The vehicle crosses the weighing point in a controlled sequence. The system captures each axle, adds the readings, and can pass the final result to your chosen display, printer or software workflow.

1ApproachTruck aligns on a suitably prepared, level weighing lane.
2CaptureEach axle is weighed statically or as it moves over a dynamic platform.
3TotalAxle results are recorded and combined into the vehicle weight.
4Use the dataDisplay, print, save, email or integrate the weight record.

GET THE SITE RIGHT

Axle weighing accuracy starts before the load cell.

Axle systems perform best when the vehicle is supported on a suitably level approach and the weighing platform is installed and used correctly. For dynamic systems, lane geometry, speed control and approach condition become part of the measurement system—not an afterthought.

MAKE THE AXLE WEIGHER SMARTER

Add Weighbridges NZ In-Cab Weighing.

Turn the axle scale into a guided driver workflow. The driver can stay in the cab while the system identifies the vehicle, steps through the axle sequence, displays live weight information and creates the completed record.

AXLE WEIGHER FAQ

Questions we are normally asked first.

What is an axle weigher?

An axle weigher is a vehicle scale that measures the load carried by individual axles or axle groups. Successive readings can be added to produce a total vehicle weight.

Static axle weighing or weigh-in-motion?

Static weighing normally prioritises controlled positioning and accuracy; low-speed weigh-in-motion prioritises throughput by capturing axles as the truck crosses the scale. We select the approach around your operational and accuracy requirements.

Can I use an axle weigher instead of a weighbridge?

Often, yes—for operational weight checks, axle-load monitoring or sites with limited space. A full weighbridge may still be the better choice where whole-vehicle static weighing, trade use or very high traffic volumes drive the requirement.

Does the ground need to be level?

Yes. Vehicle attitude affects axle load transfer. Correctly prepared, reasonably level approaches are an important part of obtaining repeatable axle-weight results, particularly where only part of the vehicle is on the weighing platform.

Can the system print or save each axle?

Yes. Depending on the indicator and software, systems can display, total, print and electronically store individual axle readings and the completed vehicle result.

Can it work with driver phones or tablets?

Yes. Our In-Cab Weighing platform can guide the driver through the weighing process and link the weight result with vehicle, company, product or job information.
